Expression Systems and Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Technologies: Directory and Market Assessment |
The goal is to catalog the identity, utility, commercial viability/competitiveness, current commercial uses, ownership and availability for licensing of those technologies most useful for large-scale manufacture of biopharmaceuticals, particularly recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies. This involves cataloging expression system technologies and associated materials and methods, including cell lines, vectors, promoters, selection/amplification, upstream bioproceses, etc., along with who developed, owns/patented and licenses these for commercial use.
|
Send us your information! There is no cost for inclusion of your technologies in this directory! Does your organization have technologies relevant to biopharmaceutical product manufacture currently or propectively available for licensing? If so, please send whatever public/publishable information is currently available. We desire information about the technology (what is it? what's it do?), its ownership, exemplary patents and publications, commercial viability/benefits, stage of development, any case or economic studies, and availability for licensing (e.g., what types of licenses are available?; some idea of terms/costs). |
Need (Market): There currently are no directories of biotechnologies in commerce, and none concerning bioprocessing or expression systems. Companies need access not just to conventional technologies, but also to those in development that they may want to license or investigate now, looking forward to commercial-scale manufacture of products upon their approval five, ten or more years in the future. Besides hundreds of innovator companies developing new biopharmaceuticals, there are now hundreds of companies worldwide getting involved in biogenerics/biosimilars -- all needing access to bioprocessing technologies. See a related article by this author, Expression Systems for Process and Product Improvement: A Perspective on Opportunities for Innovator and Follow-On Product Developers, the lead article in the Expression Systems supplement, BioProcess International, June 2008.
Benefits of listing your technologies: This is a unique opportunity to make your technologies accessible to the worldwide biopharmaceutical industry, and at no cost! This directory (book and database) will cover 100s of technologies; will be published by BioPlan Associates, a publisher targeted to the bioprocessing community, and cost about $1,000 (so only those with a serious interest will see your information). It will be marketed to biopharmaceutical developers and manufacturers worldwide -- reaching more of the right people more effectively than could your own marketing efforts.
Volunteers needed: Input and feedback are welcome from industry professionals. Does this project interest you, or do you see an angle for your organization's involvement? If so, please contact us. We welcome your joining our informal advisory committee (occasionally answering a question or two).
